The 2013 Pinot Noir Lotus is a single barrel selection (there’s only 25 cases) that spent 22 months in barrel followed by three years in bottle. Deeper ruby and translucent, with a classic style in its black cherry and raspberry fruits, this beauty has medium to full body, complex notes of spice box, dried earth, and sous bois, building tannins, and a great finish. It's a beautifully complete wine and is going to be one of the longest lived in the lineup. Give bottles 2-3 years.

Production notes
  • Grapes were hand-harvested
  • 50% whole cluster fermentation in small lots (1.5 ton fermentor)
  • Like always, we relied on the native yeast that the grapes carried from the vineyards to complete the fermentation
  • We hand punched each fermentor twice a day to enhance the extraction of colors, tannins and flavors
  • After primary fermentation was complete we extended maceration for up to 30-35 days to further extract color, tannins and flavor
  • Pressed with ultra-gentle stainless steel basket press in an 8-hour cycle
  • Aged in 25% new French oak for 22 months prior to bottling, no fining or filtering with two rackings before bottling.and then another 2 years in bottle prior to releasing.
