Matt's Tasting Notes:  Our first release of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay.  Native yeast and barrel fermented in all neutral oak. Picked early for acidity and freshness, complete malolactic fermentation adds richness, texture, and weight. A 9-barrel blend made from Zotovich, Kessler-Haak, John Sebastiano, and Donnachadh vineyards.

91-93 Points - The 2017 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills gives up a terrific bouquet of sweet citrus, mint, and pineapple. With a medium-bodied, layered, nicely concentrated style on the palate as well as vibrant acidity, it's going to drink nicely right out of the gate yet also evolve nicely - Jeb Dunnuck

  • Grapes were hand-harvested from Kessler-Haak, John Sebastiano, Zotovich and Donnachadh Vineyards
  • Picked early for acidity and freshness
  • Fermentation in neutral french oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation
  • Like always, we relied on the native yeast that the grapes carried from the vineyards to complete the fermentation
  • Sur Lie aging - aged in neutral french oak for 11 months on the lees prior to bottling, no fining or filtering
