2017 Pinot Noir - Cargasacchi Vineyard, Sta, Rita Hills
Tasting notes
Elegant, meaning bright and fresh with notes of red fruit; cranberries, raspberries, and pomegranate, with more savory, umami, and wild flavors and aromatics behind the red fruit. Light bodied, fine tannin and bright acid give this wine length, focus, and a long finish.
This Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir is crunchy and fun and drinking well right now.
Production notes
Grapes were hand-harvested from Cargasacchi Vineyard on September 7, 2017. 50% of the fruit was fermented whole cluster, 50% destemmed, in small lots (2 tons). Like always, we relied on the native yeast that the grapes carried from the vineyards to complete the fermentation. We hand punched each fermentor twice a day to enhance the extraction of colors, tannins and flavors. Aged in 100% neutral French Oak for 18 months prior to bottling and then another year in bottle prior to release. The Pinot noir - Cargasacchi is 100% clone 115.
