2014 Pinot Noir - Rancho La Vina Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

The Pinot Noir Rancho La Viña Vineyard is a stunning example of what this iconic vineyard can produce. Rose petal, quinine, sweet spices, blood orange and chalk give much of its unique, exotic personality. Lifted and gracious on the palate, striking depth throughout. The wine's structure is implied more than overtly stated.

“Another stem dominated cuvee that offers tons of charm and texture on the palate. Peppery herbs, tapenade, currants, smoked earth and stem notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, impressively textured Pinot Noir” - Jeb Dunnuck (95 points)

2014 Pinot Noir - Turner Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

92 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The Turner Vineyard sits on 21 acres adjacent in the northern part of the Sta. Rita Hills. There are about 3 acres of Syrah planted at this dramatically cool site, with the balance planted to mostly Pinot Noir. The soils at Turner Vineyard are dark and clay-based with chunks of calcareous deposits throughout.

“The 2014 Pinot Noir Turner Vineyard is very pretty and silky.  Aromatic and light on its feet, it is a wine of total finese.  Sweet floral notes, and bright red-toned fruit add complexity.  This is an understated, classy Pinot Noir from SAMsARA"

2014 Grenache - Larner Vineyard, Santa Barbara County

93 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"SAMsARA's 2014 Grenache Larner Vineyard is bright, focused and pulsating with energy.  Early picking and the inclusion of 100% stems seems to bring out an especially translucent, focused expression of this Ballard Canyon site. The long, saline finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal."

2014 Syrah - Turner Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

95 Points - EDITOR'S CHOICE - The Wine Enthusiast

"There's extreme, maybe even obscene, amounts of cracked black pepper on the savory nose of this cool-climate expression, which comes from the same 12 rows each vintage. There are also scents of roasted beef, asphalt and a pinch of lavender. The pepper character coats the palate too, diced by lively acidity. This is, perhaps, the most pitch-perfect show of Côte-Rôtie in California to date." - Matt Kettman

2014 Syrah - Melville Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

94 Points - The Wine Advocate

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Syrah Melville Vineyard revels some apparent stem inclusion at this youthful stage, giving way to a very pretty perfume of spice box and violets over a core of warm blackberries, black cherries and plums, plus pepper and licorice wafts.  Medium-bodied with a beautifully fine-crafted elegant palate, it has intense black fruit spice and licorice layers and a firm frame, finishing with lingering pepper and earth suggestions.  Leave it a year for the stems to marry-in and drink it over the next 10-12+ years.  Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030

Medium garnet-purple colored the 2015 Santa Barbara County Syrah gives pretty kirsch, red currant jelly and black rasberry notes with Chinese five spice, Sichuan pepper and forest floor in the undercurrent.  Medium-bodied, the palate had bags of red and black fruit flavors and impressive hramony, framed by approachable, rounded tannins and finishing with pepper and spice suggestions. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
