Magnum - 2020 Chardonnay - Cuvée d'Inspiration, Sta. Rita Hills
93 points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
With only three barrels produced, the 2020 Chardonnay - Cuvée d'Inspiration showcases all that we love about the Sta. Rita Hills. This wine is acid- and mineral-driven, broad on the palate with beautiful texture from extended sur lie elevage. Tart pineapple, Meyer lemon, lime zest and crushed oyster shell jump from the glass and are mirrored on the palate. This wine crafted from 100% organic vineyards provides old-world elegance perfectly in balance with new-world fruit on the nose and palate. - Matt Brady, Winemaker

"The 2020 Chardonnay Cuvée d’ Inspiration has pretty aromas of apricot and panna cotta with streaks of flint, flowers and fresh herbs. The light-bodied palate is rounded in texture with focused acidity and an intense core of citrusy fruit. Energetic and mineral driven at this stage, it's reminiscent of a youthful Chablis—drink it over the next 2-3 for its tanginess and perfume. 62 cases were made." -Erin Brooks

"The 2020 Chardonnay Cuvée d'Inspiration is decidedly gracious and airy in feel. Citrus, white flowers, mint, and white pepper lend brightness and life. This aromatic, buguiling Chardonnay from vineyards on the western side of the Sta Rita Hills is beguiling and full of character." -Antonio Galloni

"Oaky and reserved when first poured, this firms up with air, the wine’s acid structure taking center stage, pointing up a scent of pear and clementine and focused fruit flavors delivered with zippy freshness." —P.J.C.

"Nutty aromas of pecan and browned butter meet with Meyer lemon on the nose of this bottling. There's a stony grip to the sip, where peach, apricot and pineapple flavors align atop brisk acidity." - Matt Kettmann
