Magnum - 2021 Grenache - Larner Vineyard, Ballard Canyon
94 points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
The 2021 Grenache - Larner Vineyard is a relatively structured expression of this vineyard, with a firm tannic structure and a seemingly endless finish. The nose pops with pop: Dr. Pepper, sassafras and cherry cola. Secondary notes of umami and rich earth complement these candied flavors for a very complex and age-worthy wine. - Lily Hays, Direct to Consumer Business Manager

"The 2021 Grenache Larner Vineyard is a tiny bottling of just three barrels. Bright and bristling with energy, SAMsARA's 2021 shows what happens when this Ballard Canyon site is picked on the earlier side. Vibrant red cherry fruit, blood orange, star anise, cinnamon and crushed rose petal are all beautifully laced together. Readers will find a Grenache with distinct Pinot leanings in terms of its energy and textural feel. There is just a touch of reduction, but that starts to dissipate with aeration. This is gorgeous stuff." -Antonio Galloni

"A vibrant hue of purplish red in the glass, this bottling excites the nose with clean and fresh aromas of black raspberry and scarlet rose petals. The palate is zesty and engaging, offering more rose petals, violet, berry and lively white pepper flavors." — Matt Kettmann
