My Wine Drinking Hat - My inspiration for these designs came from my memories on horseback in the Sta. Rita hills riding among the cattle and the vines. The Mediterranean landscape, birds soaring above me, the rugged coastline and the history of the Santa Barbara mission that stitches it all together. I chose a sand colored Australian wool to represent the coastline, a deep blue satin liner as a nod to the powerful Pacific Ocean, a classic tear drop crown with western lines for my cowgirl heart, burned in a local cattle brand that is recognized for the area to add to the story, the year 1786 for when the mission was founded, dried lavender from the terroir, wild feathers to represent our winged friends that float so effortlessly in the valley sky and lastly the valley itself hand stitched or burned in silhouette because you carry the beauty of the horizon with you until you inevitably return.
